What are some options in Anchorage, Alaska?
Daisaku Ikeda submits a Peace Proposal to the UN every year since 1983. Michael Nobel is working through the UN to build a global education program for peace. The UN has an International Day of Peace on September 21. Alaskans can also develop programs and activities to promote values, attitudes and behaviors needed for a peaceful world. We invite you to share in the discussion to develop some options for communities in Alaska to develop a culture of peace. Please enter your comments to this blog item. Thank you very much for participating.

One thought I had was to take note of things already happening in our communities that create an atmosphere of peace. I feel there are already many events with an atmosphere of peace. One such event is the Anchorage Folk Festival (www.anchoragefolkfestival.org). When I enter the space of this free event I settle into a state of peace, contentment, and sense of community.
ReplyDeletePam, I went to the American Folk Festival. I could not find any events for February. Where do I click for February events?
ReplyDeleteHi Claudette,
ReplyDeleteI'm speaking of the Anchorage Folk Festival that happens each January (www.anchoragefolkfestival.org). The Alaska Folk Festival takes place in Juneau in April, and it is also a wonderful event and worth the flight down (www.akfolkfest.org).
Pam I just learned the Rotary Club is an international organization with a chapter in Anchorage. They have a mission for World Peace. I intend to learn more about their mission and related activities.
