What should World Peace look like?
On January 19, 2009 thirteen Alaskans met to discuss developing a culture of peace for humanity. We reviewed some of the concerns of great leaders, like Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Pope Benedict, Dalai Lama, Michael Noble and Daisaku, Ikeda. Peace has a fractal relationship. We will have world peace when nation leaders value peace; to have such leaders citizens must value peace and have peaceful hearts. So to have peace internationally, we need peace nationally, locally and individually. Please join us in this discussion to this blog. World peace begins with each individual examining his or her own inner darkness, those parts of us that hold us back from pursuing our dreams, overcoming our hardships, deepening our relationships. Establishing that kind of courage to move forward in our own lives igniting that inner spirit of courage, confidence, compassion, wisdom and humility, we impact our families, our neighbors, our communities with positive influence. Just as we see our reflections when we gaze into a mirror, our impact on our families, neighbors and communities come back to us. As we send our ripples out into the world, one by one we influence and as all the new influences impact their own environments, peace will spread . . . one by one.
